Martial lifted by Zlatan’s Mourinho advice – report

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has advised Anthony Martial to listen to Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Martial has struggled to recapture his excellent form of last season, when he finished as Manchester United’s top scorer with 17 goals under Louis van Gaal.
He has found the net just six times in 21 appearances with Mourinho in charge, and has found himself in and out of the first team.
The Portuguese explained his reasoning for not giving the Frenchman a consistent run of games earlier this week, but it was also claimed that Martial was frustrated with his treatment from the manager.
According to James Ducker of the Telegraph however, Ibrahimovic has spoken to his teammate and advised him to ‘heed Mourinho’s advice’, and ‘ignore outside influences’. He writes:
‘Martial is understood to have been receptive to Ibrahimovic and Mourinho’s messages and is determined to emerge a stronger player from a difficult second season at the club.
‘Ibrahimovic’s intervention is the latest example of how the Swede helps to police the Old Trafford dressing room and his influence on the squad and Martial has come to recognise that Mourinho would not have been so hard on him if he did not think the player was worth all the effort. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been in a similar situation this season.’
Martial is expected to start against Wigan in the FA Cup this weekend, alongside fellow struggler Luke Shaw.
